Solar Eclipse amazes even at 33%
On Saturday morning a group of our members and the general public gathered on Park Walk in Shaftesbury to view one of nature’s most stunning wonders, a solar eclipse. Unfortunately, at the current angle we are at, we only got to see a third of the sun being covered by the moon, but it was still special.
Using telescopes with special solar filters attached, a pinhole camera and a couple of colanders they were all able to view the sun safely. We even provided solar specs for those just wanting to observe – even viewing the sun with the naked eye is dangerous and we want everyone to keep their eye sight as long as possible.
Sarah, from ‘This is Alfred’, Shaftesbury’s local radio station has done an excellent report on the event. Read on Facebook or Listen on Soundcloud.
A big thank you to Sarah for the report and to all those who came along and made the event a great success.
Here are some photos for you to enjoy.
